How it works
Guide
A monorail hoist runs on a single I-beam hung from the ceiling or a steel structure. It lifts the load and carries it along the line of the beam. It works best where loads follow the same path every time, for example along a production line, between workbenches or from a loading bay into storage.
The hoist hangs from a trolley that runs on the beam. Its motor winds the chain or wire rope to raise the hook. Lifting, lowering and travel along the beam are all done from the pendant in your hand.
These four also have the biggest effect on price.
Capacity
The heaviest load you will lift, plus any attachment on the hook.
Lifting height
The distance between the lowest and highest hook positions. It sets the chain or rope length.
Lifting speed
Single speed is fine for most jobs. If you need to set loads down precisely, dual speed makes it easier.
Duty class
How much the hoist will work each day. Frequent, long use calls for a higher class.
